Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) – Service Operations Support (SOS-5)
EES is involved in managing information resources to optimize National Airspace System (NAS) service delivery, restore the infrastructure, and ensure customer/user satisfaction. In addition, EES provides documentation control, and directive publication and issuance. EES is responsible for providing software and database maintenance support with direct hardware and software engineering configuration and management for the NAS field facilities, as well as onsite support for users. We perform lifecycle configuration management, documentation, and quality assurance and control on all application software at William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) and software engineering and configuration management for NAS field facilities.
EES is providing a wide range of support services from mission critical systems to administrative services. EES provides full service technical support, including software development, hardware sustainment, networking, test evaluations, system administration, and configuration management. EES engineers assisted the FAA in the development of its Service Life Extension Program (SLEP). This plan provides a solid foundation for potential system enhancements consistent with modern programming concepts, including portable, expandable and maintainable source code. EES provides Help Desk on-site support for field problem reporting, which supports airports nationwide, and includes system optimization, problem troubleshooting and resolution, and installation of system modifications.
This support consists of, but is not limited to, second-level engineering support, operational test and evaluation (both in-house and at field sites), system performance measurement and analysis, data communications including wide-area networks, database support for both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, software development and preparation of System Software Modifications (SSMs) that conform to Test and Evaluation Gold Standard directives. EES performs configuration management functions on all application software.
